The Silent Refrain

If you believe it
You cannot deceive it
It will come back to haunt you in the end

What was the answer?
I knew it once
But I pushed it out of my head
So now as time passes I hear
The same old questions, never answers
Swirl around in my head

Connection to others
Requires effort (ugh)
I need to be reminded
Time and time again
Why it’s worth it–is it?

I only remember the pain – so vividly,
The refrain like a favourite song

What do I want?
I think I know some days
That silent touch
A soft kiss
Not much to ask?
It always depends on how it might end

Yet another fracture in my head
That opens when its quietest
Laying in the dark in my bed
Into which reaches the pain
The refrain, yes that again

It’s all I can-to feel

Daydreams rarely suffice
Although sometimes nice
It’s a way to shut out the silence

If you believe it
You cannot deceive it
It (always) comes back to haunt you in the end

Moving forward
Forward is moving
Getting better?
Stop! And check your mind

Another person to talk to
Another lost soul to find
Another day of survival
We’re all the same inside-alone

Pointlessness
Is the order of the day
Seems the empty minds
Now hold sway

Those like me
That feel the pain of being
So empty, so out of place
Watching, listening
Helplessly….
While the countdown rushes unchecked to the end.

I digress…..

I turn over, I attempt yet again to sleep
The words they rush through my mind, saying much, meaning little
I must write this down

I hear selfish angry voices from the street
The emptiness of unfeeling
Arguing about banalities
The violence so easily released
Add a sip of alcohol stand back and watch
The slow witted become volatile
The intellectual becomes slow witted
Forward is up and down is out
The incompleteness of an empty state
The heart beats at a varying rate
The easily led, the well fed
All tucked-up safe in their beds
Complain about everything
Know about little while expressing
Nothing nothing nothing
Will you agree you can’t change most of the foolishness
If it can’t see its limitations
That’s why those affected are always spouting yet more irrelevance.

Sucking their figurative thumbs
Nodding yes while thinking little
They have no clue as to why they feel bitter
If they were to awaken from a sudden shake of realisation
What they believe in is entirely false
It will leave them cold
Leave them cold
is it too late is it too late?

Before Your Very Eyes……

The greedy rich decree
“We must have more”

So from those who have little, they’ll take a lot more

It’s taken from people like you and me..
just as the Greedy decree

What help can the masses expect then
In any fight against those that look down from their Towers
The laws they could turn to aren’t there any more
The rich changed them to suit their ideals
Help from your neighbours?
After all we are one and the same

The government has covered that nicely
Using a complicit news Media that screams
“Lazy scroungers they’re taking your taxes”
“Look how they get more than you”
Now we know that you really hate working
This workshy scum think they don’t have to…
So we’ll help you to vilify or ignore them
So we Rich can do what we do
And the stupid and selfish they fall for it
And vote for the hatred, selfishness and more….
Cuts to already stretched services that feed, fix and care for us all.
So big business can have a tax cut and the wealthiest can inherit yet more

While the poor will be lucky to keep a roof over their heads when the welfare bill becomes law

Now the facts make us recoil in horror that they’re killing ever more and more
But it never gets reported by the media
And most people choose to blindly ignore

So while the poorest are made to struggle

Only the few stand-up to fight back

While the masses repeat their learned mantra

Pull the ladder up…..
We’re alright Jack!!
